Litigation
Our client, a securities litigator with a midsize law firm, had long followed the subprime-backed securities scandal, and when we began to hear that civil fraud charges against Goldman Sachs were imminent in April 2010, we helped him to jump on the story early – before the charges were actually announced.
Following the largest man-made catastrophe in a state that killed more than a dozen people and injured more than 140, a team of lawyers led a 3.5-year long pro bono effort that showed goodwill and compassion by helping the survivors and families of those who lost loved ones understand how and why this tragedy occurred. When the final settlement occurred in summer 2010, the firm’s lawyers sought to raise awareness of their considerable pro bono effort that changed state legislation and obtained settlement funds from multiple defendants, while getting answers to all their clients’ questions, and finally, delivering justice.
