Our client, a national law firm with a significant renewable energy law practice, was seeking entry to the Chinese market to become known as a leading U.S. counsel on wind related law matters.
Our client, a partner at one of the largest law firms in the southeastern United States, represented several landowners and mineral rights owners of properties where the controversial practice of extracting natural gas from shale – “fracking” – was being conducted. Many reporters were already writing extensively on fracking, but coverage to date had mainly focused on the environmental effects of the process. Our client wanted to bring media attention to the serious issues faced by landowners and mineral rights owners as contamination or other negative effects could potentially show up decades after the fracking process took place. This left the landowners with liability, other risk factors, and the potential target of litigation.
Our client, a large national law firm, was bringing on five prominent lateral attorneys to head up its newly formed global energy and project finance group. The firm wanted to highlight the group’s arrival in national, legal and trade media to bolster business development and recruiting efforts and establish solid media relationships for these attorneys with reporters able to provide future media opportunities.
Our client, a renewable energy attorney at a large national mid-Atlantic law firm, wanted to highlight his recent work securing project financing for one of the largest wind projects in the United States. On behalf of his client, a major renewable energy provider, he secured one of the largest Treasury cash grants under Section 1603 of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which would be used for a planned expansion of the over $1 billion wind project. The attorney wanted to bring media attention to his client’s notable grant and his role in the process, since coverage of federal cash grants for other renewable projects had previously been limited. The ultimate goal of the attorney was increased visibility in the competitive renewable energy industry to assist him in his business development efforts.
