Carlos Arcos Vice President Public Reputation Services

About Carlos

Professionally speaking

Carlos Arcos, vice president for Public Reputation services at Jaffe PR, has been a prominent presence in Houston public relations for more than 10 years. A former lawyer, he possesses a unique tenacity in securing noteworthy media hits for clients. From the “Today Show,” CNN and USA Today to “Good Morning America,” Arcos has scored an impressive list of media impressions throughout his career.

Developing and implementing strategic public relations programs is far from easy, but Carlos relishes the challenge. His expertise in planning, media relations, community outreach, internal communications, issues management, and media and speaker training make him an invaluable asset for his clients.

Before joining the team at Jaffe PR, Carlos worked for several of the largest advertising and public relations agencies in Houston, where his talents strengthened such popular brands as Imperial Sugar, Mission Tortillas, Daisy Sour Cream, Kroger, Waste Management and CHRISTUS Healthcare, among others. He has also had the opportunity to represent a number of professional services clients such as Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP, CorVirtus Consulting and Medical Clinic of Houston, to name a few.

The expertise he developed during his legal career gives Carlos the essential set of skills to serve Jaffe’s roster of law firm clients, including the ability to translate complex legal issues for the media and other key audiences. Based in Houston, the energy capital of the world, it’s no surprise that Carlos has extensive media relations experience in representing clients in the energy industry. He has developed strong relationships with key industry and policy journalists at such notable publications as Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Oil & Gas Investor, and Midstream Business, to name a few.

Carlos has received a number of awards for his PR skills, from the Texas Public Relations Association, Houston Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and Houston Professional Chapter of Women in Communications.

A fifth-generation Texan and native of San Antonio, Carlos graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and the University of Texas School of Law in Austin.

Personally speaking

Wanting to infuse more creativity into his professional life, Carlos left his position as a practicing attorney more than a decade ago to pursue a career in marketing and public relations. He has never looked back.

Working for several leading PR agencies in Houston gave Carlos the opportunity to enjoy his passion for food and traveling through fascinating projects from organizing a special event for Shiner Beer at the Playboy Mansion in Beverly Hills to cooking demonstrations with well-known chefs like Bobby Flay and Tyler Florence in New York City. He learned that careful planning and preparation, combined with determination, are the keys to success.

After years of honing his brand-building chops, his love of the law lured Carlos back and he jumped at the opportunity to join the team at Jaffe PR. Carlos knows firsthand how frustrating it is for lawyers who can’t break through the media clutter, which gives him a unique motivation to put our clients in the spotlight. Equipped with the mind of an attorney and the skills of a publicist, Carlos was able to hit the ground running at Jaffe PR, quickly producing astonishing results for our clients, including coverage in the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg News and Reuters. Using his social media expertise, speaker training abilities and vast media relations network, he continues to promote clients’ work in a way that both reporters and audiences find compelling and memorable.

Carlos loves Houston’s friendly vibe and fast-paced media market, as well as the amazing food scene, but hopes to one day retire to a place that offers four seasons per year.
