Why I Work at Jaffe

Jay Jaffe - President & CEO

One of the things that I especially value about my job is that I am able to afford my colleagues the same virtual lifestyle that I enjoy.  Years ago, it was my dream; today, with modern technology and increased bandwidth, the dream is a reality.  The flexibility in our workplace provides an entirely different way to live one's life.  I don’t know how anyone can work in a traditional office anymore.  I think ours is a much better way.

Lisa Altman - Senior Account Supervisor

After a decade of public relations work in a traditional corporate setting, I searched for a company where I could grow my career while still focusing on my family.  Jaffe’s virtual environment offers me the perfect work/life balance, enabling me to meet both professional and personal goals.  I can media train a client in the morning, pitch reporters during lunch and spend the afternoon with my daughter.  Modern technology allows our team to provide top-notch legal marketing services to clients across the globe with a variety of interests.  Jaffe’s innovative business model attracts the brightest and best in the public relations field so I learn something new everyday from my colleagues.

Kevin Aschenbrenner - Vice President

Working for Jaffe allows me to be involved in some of the major, headline-making legal stories of the day.  Whether it’s pitching a white-collar partner with comments on the next Enron-like scandal, or helping a client trumpet a hard-fought win at trial, my job is always interesting.  I get a lot of laughs when I tell people I do PR for lawyers.  You hear all the old jokes.  But, in truth, lawyers are some of the best people to work with.  They are intelligent.  They don’t have a lot of time to waste so they are efficient.  And they do very interesting work.  It’s the work and the great collaboration with my colleagues that keep me here.  Every day is different.

Cari Brunelle - Vice President

Whether it’s media training the chairman of a law firm, writing a statement and key messages for the corporate client of one of our law firm clients, or fielding media calls for the latest crisis, my job can never be called dull.  On top of that, I have the flexibility to keep my daughter home with me when she is sick or hit the golf course on a beautiful afternoon.  And if it's cold and there's more than a foot of snow on the ground – there’s no nightmare commute for me.  Between the challenging work and the flexibility, why would I want to work anywhere else?

Soo Dawson - Marketing Manager

I love Internet marketing and writing; at Jaffe, my skills are valued and utilized to their full extent.  I am able to apply cutting-edge technology to assist our clients in the legal industry, and I find the work to be intellectually stimulating and extremely rewarding.

Before joining Jaffe, I thought that the two goals of being a good mom and a wife while enjoying a professional career were mutually exclusive.  My high standards for both roles are fully met at Jaffe because of the fact that I can control my work-at-home schedule.  I sit in awe and appreciation in my beautiful home office, sipping coffee and working at 4 a.m. before my daughter wakes up.  I couldn’t be happier to be a part of this amazing group.

Aileen Hinsch - Senior Marketing Consultant & Web Consulting Specialist

Over the past five years, I’ve enjoyed the challenges and rewards of a career in legal marketing – from strategic planning to developing advertising campaigns to helping clients stay on top of the growing number of legal rankings and directories.  The field is constantly changing and it is exciting to provide our clients with the consulting services and direction that help them make well-informed marketing decisions.

The ability to work virtually is a wonderful perk to working in this dynamic field.  My clients know that they can always reach me, whether I’m sitting in my home office or taking a work/pleasure trip to Florida.  Their ability to contact me is immediate and seamless; an important benefit to clients who work in a fast-paced environment.

Stephanie Holtzman - Senior Account Executive

After years of battling the D.C. Beltway and scheduling my life around traffic patterns, I was looking for an opportunity to feel more fulfilled—both professionally and personally.  I wanted a fast-paced environment where I could work with creative, smart people doing interesting and challenging work, but that wouldn’t force me to sacrifice other aspects of my life.  It’s a tall order, but I found exactly what I was looking for at Jaffe…and more.  Jaffe’s virtual structure provides more than just a work/life balance.  Offering superior Public Reputation services is an art that requires energy outside a traditional nine-to-five work schedule.  At Jaffe, our environment creates an opportunity to be happier, more productive and more efficient, which is clearly reflected in the quality of service we offer our clients.

Vivian Hood - Vice President

I work at Jaffe because I value the flexibility of a work-at-home schedule.  Being a mom who works in a home office means that classroom involvement, after school activities, illness, or other unexpected demands can be much more easily managed.  My time and work is my own to supervise, which is essential to my enjoyment of working at Jaffe.

Another reason I'm at Jaffe is the nature of the work.  I learn about a variety of issues and topics every day, and enjoy the fact that I don't have to do the same old thing day in and day out.  One morning I'm working on an intellectual property case, in the afternoon I'm pitching a mergers and acquisitions story to business reporters, and later I'm talking to health reporters about new legislation affecting e-health issues.  The next day, it's a completely different set of topics.  The mental stimulation is important to me, and that can definitely be found by working here!

Terry Isner - Creative Director

Why do I work at Jaffe?  For me, it’s all about creative freedom.  Here, I work in an environment that inspires and fosters creative energy.  Freed of artificial barriers to innovation, I can push against the boundaries of convention and conceive radical ways for clients to get their messages across.

Poonam Jain - Assistant Director of Operations

At Jaffe, the flexibility in working from home comes in very handy for those of us with children.  In addition, learning on your own and relying upon yourself to develop in your career makes the job adventurous, interesting and challenging.

Carole Keller - Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Specialist

The beauty of working for Jaffe is, well, just about everything.  I get to work with a brilliant staff, professional growth is non-stop, rewarding projects are ongoing, and, of course, the flexibility.

Even though we work in a virtual environment, we’re able to interact and communicate with one another and with clients on a minute-by-minute basis.  The Jaffe technology systems and processes are cutting edge, which make navigating the virtual work environment very easy.  Working with the top professionals in the industry makes life a lot easier, as well.

Daily challenges and professional growth are the norm for an Internet marketing consultant.  After working in Internet marketing for over a decade, I’ve developed quite the passion for this business that some may compare to an addiction to roller coaster riding.  Much like a roller coaster, Internet marketing takes you on a wild ride that makes your stomach rise up to your throat as you scream in fear of the next assault to your comfort zone, just so at the end you can say, “Let’s do it again!”  Jaffe allows me to indulge in this obsession – and get paid for it!  Additionally, the legal industry has its own set of challenges that make the ride even more thrilling.

Every one of us will tell you that flexibility is the key to our life/work balance.  For me, flexibility is required for my life/work/play balance.  And, even though I am an “empty nester,” family is still a priority and it’s important to be available on an “as needed” basis (which is really much more than you would think).

Fun, talented co-workers; tremendously rewarding challenges; exponential professional opportunities; and incomparable freedom: what’s not to love about working at Jaffe?!

Michelle King - Vice President

Having worked around the world and in several cities throughout the U.S. Southeast, I highly value the ability to work with professionals across the country who are committed to being the very best at what they do.  Jaffe’s consultants aren’t working with Jaffe because it is the best consulting firm in their home city, but rather it is the best PR and marketing firm focused on law firms in the nation.  When Jaffe hires a new consultant, the company isn’t restricted to a certain geographic area – it can hire the very best consultant for the job, no matter where he or she lives.  It is this excellence – that is not restricted to geography – that attracted me to the firm.

Nick Latham - Vice President

During my 30-year career, I have had the opportunity to work in-house at three of the best law firms in the country.  As I gained expertise in my own legal marketing career, I realized that I still had a lot to learn.  Fortunately for me, in each of those firms I had the valuable resource of outside public relations counsel to make my job just that much easier and ensure my firms were implementing the most effective marketing and PR strategies possible.

Many years later, I find myself at Jaffe where I’m now that very resource for lawyers and other in-house marketing staff in need of targeted media relations and general marketing counsel.

Succeeding in legal marketing is often about connecting with the right networks.  I’m proud to have made the connection with Jaffe PR.

Liz Lindley - Sr. Vice President

I spent years working in NYC, waiting for city busses and ferries, or waiting for the traffic in the Lincoln Tunnel to lighten (it never did).  Now, I work from my home office, at hours that suit me, and without wasting any time on commutes.  Jaffe’s business model allows me to stay at the top of the legal marketing industry while working across the river from NYC.  I'm doing what I enjoy most, promoting the expertise of my clients and helping journalists worldwide round out their stories with relevant insight.  And although there are no other cubicles or offices around me, I feel a strong sense of collaboration and companionship with my talented Jaffe colleagues.  In fact, in the home office environment, I am highly focused, extremely productive, and - best of all - able to take care of my children and achieve the work/life balance I never thought possible before.

Shani Magosky - Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

I’m an avid skier, rock climber, hiker, and yogini; so when I was ready to leave the grueling world of Wall Street behind, I moved to Colorado for lifestyle reasons.  I joined Jaffe PR in 2006 and found the ultimate yin and yang, if you will - the professional stimulation and challenges I crave while living with a mountain playground outside my front door.  In addition, my husband’s profession requires a lot of travel, including winters in Florida and extended periods of time overseas.  This was always quite challenging to manage when I worked in a traditional, constricting office environment.  Now, we have the flexibility to live in Fort Lauderdale, FL for more than half the year, and if I want to accompany him to Italy, Spain, or even Australia for a few weeks, all I need is my laptop and I don’t miss a beat at work.

I accomplish so much more in my home office than I ever could in a traditional office because I am free of frequent interruptions, unnecessary meetings, and office politics.  Plus, there’s no commuting time or expense, no dry cleaning bills, and no big utility bills for a brick and mortar headquarters.  At Jaffe, we’re also paperless, so we are “green” in so many different ways!  From an HR management perspective, the flexibility of working from home frees many talented professionals from the struggle of having to make what is often a mutually exclusive choice between career and family.  So we’re able to tap into a much broader talent pool to recruit our top-notch staff.

Jason Milch - Vice President

The opportunity to work with some of the world’s most talented legal marketing professionals, regardless of their geographic location, is one that I would not trade for anything. Additionally, the virtual office environment affords me a work/life balance that most busy professionals never get to experience.  If I want to leave work early on a beautiful summer day, I have the freedom to do that because I’m more in control of my schedule than I would be in a traditional corporate setting.  If I can’t sleep and want to go into the office at 2 a.m., I simply walk 20 feet to my office and start working.  If my workload requires a few late nights at the office, I can still enjoy dinner at home with my family before getting back to work.  For me, it’s the ideal situation.

Kathy O'Brien - Senior Account Supervisor, Public Reputation Services

For more than a decade, I ran the gauntlet that is the commute through lower Fairfield County, Connecticut and later into New York City. After a taxing day, I would face the same 1 to 1.5 hour journey home.  Working at Jaffe has created an amazing opportunity to work for a high-quality company with an impressive client roster but from a beautiful, corner office right in my own home. Now with a better work/life balance, I am more productive, I enjoy the work that I do and it is reflected in the quality of service I am able to provide for our clients. It is not the bricks and mortar, or how plush the carpet is that makes a company, but the talented, hardworking, gifted staff that puts any company on the map. At Jaffe, they are all here and I am proud to be included among some of the best in the business.

Judi Orenstein - Research Coordinator

I have worked in market research a good part of my life but nowhere have I ever been able to work on the wide variety of interesting projects like I do at Jaffe.  When I combine the type of work that I am doing with the benefits of working in a virtual environment, I have the perfect job for this stage in my life.  Besides, it also gives me a chance to work with my little brother, Jay.

John Reed, Esq. - Senior Vice President

I view my role at Jaffe as making heroes out of my clients – I help attorneys become successful business developers in ways that are comfortable and make sense to them, and I help firms to focus on their unique “stories” and work with them to deliver those messages in innovative, effective, yet appropriate ways.  With Jaffe, I get to do that in an environment where technology is embraced and where I can call the brightest minds in the industry my colleagues.

We “get” law firms.  We know their functions and dysfunctions.  We understand the pressures they experience in the face of unparalleled competition and a changing legal landscape.  In a world where perception is often reality, Jaffe professionals are the first choice for any law firm that wants to assert control over its Public Reputation and revitalize its approach to marketing.

Sue Remley - Senior Marketing Consultant

After running my own successful legal marketing consulting business for over ten years, I found myself stifled by the limitations of a solo practice.  I’ve always enjoyed working with lawyers and law firms on business strategy, marketing and business development planning and implementation, but no longer felt inspired and motivated to reach outside the boundaries of my own knowledge and experience.  What I needed was to work with a talented team of consulting professionals who were dedicated to providing innovative PR, marketing and creative services that would differentiate and promote clients, increasing their bottom line.  That is exactly what I found at Jaffe PR.  I am privileged to work with the industry’s best consultants and a wide range of clients on stimulating projects that vary from business analysis to all things Web 2.0.  And, I am able to do it in Jaffe’s virtual environment right in my own hometown.

Lisa Sachdev - Vice President

I work at Jaffe because I get to work with some of the best and brightest legal PR and marketing minds in the country in an organization that is lead by one of the true visionaries in the industry.  I work at Jaffe because I get to do interesting, satisfying work for a variety of great clients on my own timetable.  I work at Jaffe because I get unmatched flexibility in how I structure my day to meet my clients' needs.  I work at Jaffe because the concept of work/life balance is not just lip service.  I work at Jaffe because I love the way my son's face lights up when he sees me there to pick him up after school.

Michelle Samuels - Account Supervisor

Working at Jaffe enables me to collaborate with talented public relations professionals from across the country in order to best meet client needs.  With the virtual office communication tools that Jaffe has readily embraced, I am able to chat with colleagues across the country as if they were in the cube next to me, and skip the long commute on the New York subway in favor of the convenience and flexibility of my home office.  In addition, Jaffe makes achieving work/life balance a tangible goal.  Today’s PR landscape may call for 24/7 availability, but Jaffe’s virtual environment makes balancing client demands with family, travel or life demands a lot easier.

Monica Smith - Senior Account Supervisor

As an entrepreneur running my own successful PR consultancy, I found the bulk of my time was spent managing administrative and financial tasks  -- and less and less time was spent on doing what I loved best: developing client relationships and implementing PR programs that underscore my clients' business development goals.

At Jaffe, I work with a team of highly talented individuals who are all experts within the field of legal marketing and public relations.  I no longer have to wear dozens of “marketing hats”; instead, I can concentrate on supporting my clients and collaborating with my Jaffe colleagues to provide the best ideas and solutions.

The resources that we share amongst the Jaffe team are unsurpassed in this field.  The legal marketing industry is dynamic and growing, and our group reflects that.  We are constantly implementing ways to better serve our clients and are at the forefront of creating successful Web 2.0 business development opportunities for law firms.  You’d be hard-pressed to find as much internal knowledge and experience anywhere else, and I am so honored to be part of this team.

Shannon Stevens - Account Supervisor, Public Reputation Services

After 12 years of living and working in Manhattan, I felt satisfied with my professional career, but I had also sacrificed my personal life to get there.  Once I decided to make the move to Long Island, I realized I could no longer tolerate my 4-hour commute on a daily basis.  I was coming to accept that I could either have a professional life or a personal life – but not both.  Little did I know that Jaffe PR offers the best of both worlds.  I am able to be close to my family and enjoy a flexible schedule, yet at the same time am continually challenged professionally.  With the media landscape constantly evolving, this is such an exciting time to be a part of the legal marketing and Public Reputation industry.  All that and no commute!

Mel Wheeler - Controller

Why I work at Jaffe, no more commuting!  I drove over 2.5 hours per day in my previous job, now I can spend that time working from home.  It enables me to live in a rural environment so that I can enjoy riding and training my horse, but keeps me involved in the business world.

Pamela Woodman - Vice President

At Jaffe, I work with the most talented legal marketing professionals in the industry, and my clients include some of the top lawyers and law firms in the world.  And by the way, you have probably figured out by now that at Jaffe, we work virtually.  The flexibility of the virtual environment allows me to maintain the exciting and challenging career that I have worked to achieve over the years as well as my life and outside interests.  Life takes me to many destinations - thankfully.  I enjoy being able to split my office time between locations in Wisconsin and in Chicago during the week, or in any other city where work or leisure may take me.  Work doesn't come in the way of anything anymore, it's fully integrated into the everyday.  No more cube, this office has no boundaries!  Having this balance feeds my creativity and motivation, resulting in great successes for me and for my clients.
