Google has rolled out its long-anticipated update to its search algorithm, and experts are saying it will have a major affect on all websites. The update is being called "Mobilegeddon," both because of the sheer magnitude of the update's impact and because it gives preference to websites that are mobile friendly while deprioritizing sites that are not. The changes come at a time when mobile website traffic has eclipsed desktop traffic for the first time on record. 

Jaffe's Digital Strategist Mel Trudeau spoke with E-Commerce Times about Google's update and speculated on just how serious the situation is for website owners. "We don't know the degree to which the mobile ranking factor will impact mobile search results, but based on how transparent Google has been with this update, I believe we can expect a significant impact," Mel said.
